Camp Policies

Registration, payment, cancellation, change and COVID-19 policies for Sonatina Piano Camps. Summer Sonatina (ages 7–17) and the adult camps (Sonata, Intermezzo, Capriccio & Suite) have separate payment deadlines and cancellation terms, so check the section that matches your program. We strongly encourage campers to purchase travel insurance to protect their investment against unforeseen circumstances.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is due when I register for a Sonatina piano camp?

50% of tuition is due upon registration. This is the same for Summer Sonatina and for the adult camps.

When is the balance of my camp tuition due?

For Summer Sonatina (ages 7–17), full payment is due on May 1st. For the adult camps (Sonata, Intermezzo, Capriccio & Suite), full payment is due no later than 3 months prior to the start of camp. We cannot guarantee your spot if payment is not received by the deadline.

What is the cancellation policy for the adult piano camps?

Fees are based on how much notice you give, and all percentages refer to the total camp fee regardless of the initial deposit. More than 6 months notice: full refund, or change with no fee. 3 to 6 months: 10% cancellation fee or 5% change fee. 2 to 3 months: 25% cancellation or 15% change. 1 to 2 months: 35% cancellation or 25% change. Less than 1 month: 45% cancellation or 35% change. Less than 10 days: 75% cancellation or 50% change, except for a documented active COVID infection, which allows a change to a future camp without fees.

What is the cancellation policy for Summer Sonatina, the camp for kids and teens?

Cancel on or before April 1st and you receive 100% of your deposit back minus a $100 cancellation fee. Cancel between April 2 and May 1 inclusive and you receive 50% of your deposit back. Cancel after May 1 and you forfeit the whole deposit. Families who enroll by March 1, 2026 receive an extended cancellation window: the April 1 deadline moves to May 1, and the May 1 deadline moves to June 1.

Can I get a refund if my child gets COVID right before Summer Sonatina?

If a camper must cancel during the week immediately before camp due to a documented active COVID infection, payments made may be applied as a credit toward a future Sonatina camp session rather than forfeited. This provision allows for credit only, not refunds.

Can I reduce my cancellation fee if someone else takes my spot?

Yes. If there is a waiting list and we can fill your spot, or if a camp fills to capacity after your cancellation or change, the fee is reduced to 10% for a cancellation or 5% for a change. This waiting list exception applies to the adult camps.

Can I transfer my enrollment to a different camp instead of cancelling?

Yes. Change requests must be to a future camp with availability within 5 years of the original enrollment. Changed deposits are non-refundable, and change fees follow the same notice-based schedule as cancellations.

Is COVID vaccination required to attend Sonatina Piano Camps?

No. Proof of COVID vaccination is no longer required for either the adult camps or Summer Sonatina. We prefer that campers and staff are vaccinated and up to date on available boosters. Depending on the COVID situation, we may request a negative test immediately prior to departure for camp, typically within 24 hours of arrival.

What happens if Sonatina cancels a camp?

If we cancel due to low enrollment, weather, natural disaster, widespread illness, or COVID, we offer a full refund or a transfer to a mutually agreed future camp. We cannot compensate for travel costs, which is why we recommend travel insurance.

Do you refund late arrivals, early departures, or flight delays?

No. There are no refunds or discounts for late arrivals, early departures, flight delays or cancellations, or illness beyond the stated cancellation policy. We strongly encourage campers to purchase travel insurance for additional protection.
