About Piano Gather
Piano Gather is an online video platform made for pianists, from Sonatina Piano Camps. Its Music Mode keeps the full sound of a piano, so you can practice with company, perform, and take lessons from home.
Piano Gather: Good company. Great music. More piano.
There's nothing quite like making music together. Now you can do it anytime, anywhere.
Practice alongside other pianists, perform for a live audience, take a lesson, join a course, or catch up with your Sonatina camp friends. Whether you're working on a tricky passage or ready to share a finished piece, there's a place for you here.
Come on in. There's room at the piano! Join Piano Gather
The science of company: The Power of Shared Practice
Practice 50% longer at the piano keys because someone is working along with you.
It’s proven by science, not just a feeling. Research shows that people working on difficult tasks alongside others, even remotely, persist 50% longer and enjoy the process more. When you practice in the company of fellow pianists, you tap into built-in accountability, focus, and drive to keep going. Carr & Walton, Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, 2014
A place for every kind of pianist
- Practice together – Sometimes all you need is a little company to keep you going. Join a practice session, say hello, mute your microphone, and get to work. Everyone practices their own music, but nobody practices alone. It's easier to stay focused with others working alongside you, and when you hit a tough spot, there's a piano buddy right there. Finish by playing for each other or simply saying goodbye.
- Take the stage – Play for an automatic audience! Try out a new piece, get comfortable playing for others, or do a run-through before your next recital. No concert hall required. Just you, your piano, and some friendly listeners.
- Reconnect with camp friends – Remember those wonderful days at Sonatina? Bring them back! Catch up with old friends, meet fellow pianists who love the piano as much as you do, and keep that sense of belonging going long after camp ends.
- Take a lesson or join a course – Private lessons and virtual courses scheduled through the Sonatina website take place right here on Piano Gather. Your piano education doesn't have to stop when you leave camp.
- Sit in on a lesson – Ever wish you could be a fly on the wall during someone else's piano lesson? When a student opens their lesson to auditors, you can observe the teacher at work, unseen and unheard. Have a question? Send the teacher a text. They might even have time to answer. And don't forget the thank-you flowers!
We speak piano
Most video calls are designed for conversation, not music. Piano Gather's Music Mode is different. It preserves the full dynamic range of your piano, so listeners can hear everything from the softest pianissimo to your biggest fortissimo. Because your piano deserves to sound like a piano!

Getting the best experience
- For the best sound, use one of our apps. On a Mac or Windows computer, download it from the Gather menu under Community.
- On an iPad or iPhone, use our iOS app. It isn't in the App Store just yet, so email Matt at matt@sonatina.com for access.
- Second choice: Piano Gather in a web browser, with Chrome recommended. On an iPad or iPhone, use the app instead: browsers there can't capture a piano well.
