Find a session and RSVP
Browse the sessions board or calendar, understand what each kind of session is, and save your spot with RSVP.
Every upcoming session is listed in Piano Gather, either as cards or on a calendar. Times are always shown in your own time zone.
Web browser
On Piano Gather, open Sessions in the menu for the board of cards, or Calendar to see them by day.
Mac or Windows app
Open Sessions in the sidebar for the board of cards, or Calendar to see them by day.
iPad or iPhone app
The Home tab lists every session. The Calendar tab shows a month: tap a day to see what's on.
Kinds of session
| Kind | What happens |
|---|---|
| Practice | Pianists practice side by side, each on their own piece, for company and accountability. Most people stay muted while they play. |
| Perform (Performance) | One pianist performs and everyone else listens as the audience. Good for recital nerves. |
| Camp Gather | A get-together for people from one Sonatina camp: a performance or just a social catch-up. Only that camp's attendees can join. |
| Piano Lesson | A private lesson between a teacher and a student. |
| Course name | A session of a Sonatina online course, for enrolled students. |
A session that's going on now is marked Live or Active, with the number of people in the room. Private (a lock) means only invited people can join. Anyone can see a private session, but you can't RSVP unless the host invited you.
Narrow the list
Web browser
The filters in the menu pick which kinds of session to show. Only my sessions shows the ones you're hosting, have RSVP'd to or were invited to. Live now shows sessions with someone in the room. Click Reset to show everything again. Your filters are remembered on this device.
Mac or Windows app
Open Filters in the sidebar. It works the same way as on the web: pick kinds of session, Only my sessions, Live now, or Reset.
iPad or iPhone app
There are no filters in the app yet. Every open session is listed.
RSVP
RSVP saves your spot. The session then gets an Enter button.
Web browser
Click RSVP on the card.
- RSVP (Invited): you're on the guest list of a private session.
- Full: no spots left.
- Tip $1 & Join: a performance, on a free account, that you weren't invited to. If the host invited you, you RSVP for free. See Free accounts, credits and subscriptions.
Changed your mind? Open the ⋯ menu on the card and choose Remove RSVP.
Not signed in? Clicking RSVP asks you to sign in first, then brings you straight back to the card.
Mac or Windows app
Click RSVP on the card. If it's greyed out, hover over it: "Session is full" means there are no spots left. Tip $1 & Join appears on performances for free accounts.
Changed your mind? Open the ⋮ menu on the card and choose Remove RSVP. Click anywhere else on a card, or View details in that menu, to see everything about the session.
iPad or iPhone app
Tap a session to open its details, then tap RSVP. If there are no spots left it says Session full.
If the host invited you, RSVP works on a free account too. Otherwise, a free account can't tip to join a performance in the app: tap Continue on web to do it on the website.
Changed your mind? Tap Remove RSVP under the Enter button.
Camp Gathers and courses check that your account email is on the camp or course list. If it isn't, you're asked to confirm the email you enrolled with: send yourself a code, type in the 6 digits, and verify.
Message the host
Have a question before the session? Use Message host: in the ⋯ menu on the web and Mac/Windows app, or on the session's details in the iPad/iPhone app.
A card disappears a few minutes after its session ends. What happened stays in History.
